Famed Fäviken to Close

Chef Magnus Nilsson announced in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that he’ll be leaving his Michelin-starred location after eleven years of meals.  Noted as one of the “World’s 50 Best Restaurants,” Fäviken is described as innovative Nordic cuisine, with a heavy focus on foraging, and was featured in a number of shows during its run including “The Mind of a Chef” and “Chef’s Table.“

“I’ve always known that Fäviken was not going to be forever,” the chef shared with the newspaper, confiding that he woke up one day without the desire to continue his work in the kitchen.

“I’m not leaving because I’m discontent with the restaurant. I’m just leaving because I’m done with it. Because I want to do other things.”

Owners Patrik and Ann-Charlotte Brummer say they will not continue restaurant service upon Nilsson’s departure.

Disney Dreams Come True for José Andrés

When he’s not out feeding the world with his World Central Kitchen, chef José Andrés is still busy building a restaurant empire. The beloved chef recently saw the opening a new Jaleo location in the Disney Springs complex at Florida’s Walt Disney World Resort.

“I’m so lucky that Disney should choose us,” José told the Disney Parks blog as he told the story of visiting Disney long ago and dreaming of one day opening a Spanish restaurant within the park’s walls.

A smaller, fast casual eatery, Pepe, opened alongside Jaleo at the end of April. José Andrés  joins chefs Wolfgang Puck, Masaharu Morimoto, and Art Smith who already have locations in the park.
