Yay! I’m thrilled to see that Share Our Strength’s Great American Dine Out brought in $500,000 last month during their first annual Dine Out week, with over 4,000 restaurants participating in the event. To aid in the fight against childhood hunger, restaurants around the country, including many larger groups like Union Square Hospitality Group, donated a portion of their sales from September 21-28, 2008.
“Over the years, Share Our Strength’s success has been attributed to the generosity of the nation’s culinary community,” said Bill Shore, founder and executive director of the organization, whose mission is to end child hunger. “This year, we’re extremely grateful for the overwhelming support we received for the Dine Out — especially during these difficult economic times when companies, restaurants and individuals have had to make significant cutbacks to make ends meet.”
Keep an eye on their Flickr for participant pics and don’t miss next year’s Great American Dine Out – September 20-26, 2009.
