Top Cheftestant Guests in New York City; London Restaurant Receives Michelin Star in Record Time

Chef Eli Kirshtein, a former “cheftestant” on Bravo’s Top Chef, has made his way out of Atlanta and into the Big Apple as guest chef for NYC’s Solo Restaurant. The talented chef from down south will be guesting in the kosher kitchen located in the Sony Arcade in midtown Manhattan, helping to “take Kosher cuisine to a new level.”

Said Joey Allaham, owner of Solo Restaurant, “We are privileged to have him in our kitchen and excited to see how he blends his already unique style with our New American Kosher fare. As a non-Kosher chef by trade, having Chef Eli prepare food for our guests will further exemplify that Kosher is a significant culinary trend, becoming a fixture in the restaurant scene.”

Prior to his experience in reality television and his spot at Solo, Kirshtein honed his skills at a number of top restaurants, including Le Bernardin, Alain Ducasse, and Jean Georges, working most recently in Miami with Chef Alberto Cabrera. In addition to his guest stint in NYC, the chef will also collaborate with Chef Sean Brock and fellow Top Chef alum Chef Richard Blais for a seven-course Taste of the South dinner event at Charleston’s McCrady’s Restaurant in early March.

It was announced this month that ‘Apsleys – a Heinz Beck Restaurant’, a lauded restaurant located in the prestigious London hotel The Lanesborough, was recently awarded its first Michelin star – in record time! The hotel restaurant offers a decadent Mediterranean menu with Chefs Heinz Beck and Massimiliano Blasone at the helm, and has surprisingly only been in operation for six months.

“Since opening in 1991, The Lanesborough has been unwavering in its commitment to delivering first-class service and amenities to its visitors,” said Mr. Geoffrey Gelardi, Managing Director of The Lanesborough. “The award bestowed upon ‘Apsleys – a Heinz Beck Restaurant’ by Michelin reinforces this ideal and compels us to continue to strive for excellence.”

The Michelin designation makes the restaurant the fastest London establishment to be awarded a star, though Chef Beck has been previously awarded three Michelin stars for his work at Rome’s La Pergola, recognized as ‘the best hotel restaurant in Italy’.
