Vegas’ CityCenter Will Feature Bites from Michael Mina, Pierre Gagnaire

With grand openings staggered throughout December, the Las Vegas CityCenter looks to be a fabulous addition to the already spectacular Las Vegas strip. The much-anticipated space will include luxurious new accommodations, from hotels to condominiums, as well as a bounty of delicious new restaurants.

Visitors to the 61-story gaming resort, ARIA, will have a tough choice deciding a spot to eat with seven restaurants to chose from, including Chef Michael Mina’s AMERICAN FISH, Bar Masa and Shaboo, from Masa New York chef Masayoshi Takayama, and Jean Georges Steakhouse, from Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

“Over the last two decades, Las Vegas has evolved from a buffet town into the global culinary epicenter it is today,” said Bart Mahoney, vice president of food and beverage at ARIA. “When it opens this December, ARIA will forever change the skyline and create a new Las Vegas experience for millions of visitors. With such a stunning project, it is only fitting that the chefs and restaurants follow suit.”

If that isn’t enough, the new Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas will be home to three-star Michelin chef Pierre Gagnaire’s first U.S. location, Twist. Located on the 23rd floor of the hotel, the restaurant will offer ‘classic French cuisine with a modern spin’ with a dining room that will feature a glass staircase leading to a suspended wine loft.

Other dining offerings scattered throughout the property: Chef Todd English’s T.E. Pub, The Pods and Brasserie PUCK from Chef Wolfgang Puck, and Silk Road from Chef Martin Heierling of Bellagio’s Sensi.

I visited the Todd English pub on friday of the opening week. Reception and hosts were warm and inviting. We ordered ceasar salad/ oysters/ stone crab/ sliders and the roast turkey platter. Shellfish were fresh but the TE signature cocktail sauce tasted like common ketchup. Ceasar salad was fresh and decent although there was no anchovy detected in the dressing and the cheese had no bite. The sliders were very good and perfectly cooked. The turkey platter was unacceptably dry. We wanted to pay for our bill but it took 15 minutes of me waving in the air before i gave up, got up, got the host to grab a waiter to send us our bill.(no joke!) I will never return or recommend this restaurant or anything with Todd English’s name on it due to this experience.
