This week on Daily Blender, you might notice that things are a little quiet. Surprisingly, I’m taking a few days off from posting to, dare I say, enjoy my summer (even with this poor Portland weather) particularly before events start to roll in.
Starting in August, Daily Blender will have a whole host of great content coming your way. You can expect an exclusive interview with award-winning chef Ryan Hardy of Aspen’s Little Nell as well as coverage of the Best of Oregon Food and Wine Festival and the Beaver Creek Wine & Spirits Festival.
Over Labor Day weekend, I’ll be traveling down to Los Angeles for the Taste of Beverly Hills event, featuring some of the best chefs in Southern California, including Wolfgang Puck, Nancy Silverton, and Michael Voltaggio. With the event in its first year, this looks to be a fantastic weekend with all that Los Angeles has to offer.
In October, I’m venturing off to New York City for the third annual Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival. This year’s lineup is fabulous, as always, with favorite food personalities, wine and spirits experts, and award-winning chefs, including internationally renowned chefs René Redzepi and Heston Blumenthal.
So, while I prep and prepare, enjoy your week, enjoy a few of my favorite older DB links, and I’ll see you next week.
- My first chef interview ever – with Chef Stephanie Izard, before she became a girl with a goat.
- The 2008 Times Talk with Chef Ferran Adria was fascinating as he discussed El Bulli and its followers.
- It’s amazing how many people still stop by to find out how to pronounce “Zagat”.
- Tips for handling bad waiters, with my $.02, which is still better than barging into the kitchen.
- Last summer, I really enjoyed talking with Master Organic Farmer Peter Jacobsen, who provides produce for Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry.
